Greyston Bakery: Snickerdoodle Blondie #blondiebrownieday

Today is

National Blondie Brownie Day!!

So let me tell you about my absolute favorite blondie.

It was September 2015 and I went to Whole Foods in Arlington, TX to get dinner from the hot bar.  After getting a few bottles of water, I turn around and I am facing the bread, tortilla, cookies, etc. display.  My eyes zoned in on one section on the second row from the bottom.  I am not sure what attracted me to that display but I walked over and I saw something that intrigued me...a Snickerdoodle Blondie made by Greyston Bakery.

I love Snickerdoodles...the cinnamon sugar and buttery dough...I can never buy less than two!

I love brownies...the chewiness and bold chocolate flavor...I can eat a WHOLE pan!

But this was a blondie brownie that supposedly tastes like a snickerdoodle???  No harm in testing it out!  After eating my high protein, no-carb dinner (I HAD to make room for the brownie!), I start to open the package and I see that the FIRST ingredient is brown sugar.  BROWN SUGAR!!

How can you go wrong when the first listed ingredient is brown sugar? Really...how can you?!

I remember taking the first bite...and the next thing I know, the entire blondie was gone, LOL!  The crunchy, cinnamon sugar topping and the soft, chewy center literally melt in your mouth!  And they really do taste like snickerdoodles!   I should let you know that this is very sweet treat - you have been warned!  With a fudge brownie, the primary flavor is chocolate.  With this snickerdoodle blondie, the primary flavor is cinnamon sugar and it is dominate in the topping and the center.  The texture reminds me of the "fudge-like" version of the box brownie mix that calls for 2 eggs instead of 3 for the "cake-like" brownies that I used to make.  They were so delicious, that I found myself picking up pieces of the cinnamon sugar crunch topping that were left in the package with my finger ☺

The following weekend, I went to one of the many Whole Foods in Houston to pick one up and they didn't have any.  The sales associates had never even HEARD of the brand.  I tried a different location the following week and found a whole display!  Since I am in there weekly, I keep an eye out for them and I have discovered that it is always hit or miss on whether a location offers them at all or if they are in stock.  I suspect that the Snickerdoodle Blondie is the most popular because it is always sold out!  Words cannot express the excitement I feel when I find one!

I can't close out this review without telling you a little bit about Greyston Bakery and what makes them so special.  The company is based in the state of New York and they have an Open Hire policy, which means that they don't take into consideration previous work history, incarcerations, or other barriers to mainstream employment.  They give their employees a second chance...why would you not want to support an organization like that??

In addition to Whole Foods, Greyston Bakery also partners with Ben & Jerry's.  I also had one of their chocolate brownies during my Delta Airlines flight to Johannesburg, South Africa.  Let's do all we can to support a business with such a focus on giving opportunity to many that are overlooked and undervalued.

Have you ever had a Greyston Bakery Snickerdoodle Blondie?
